Hi, I’m Lee, and I’m the owner of Spin It Proud Records. We’re a small, independent online store built by a fan, for the fans.

When I was growing up, pop music was everything to me. I eagerly collected every new release from my favourite artists, even working my first weekend job as a teenager just to fund this hobby. Listening to my favourite artists brought me joy and escapism, even when pop wasn't considered 'cool.' Recently, the industry's emphasis on physical formats has felt like a throwback to my youth, prompting me to expand my collection even further, much to my boyfriend’s concern.

While browsing record shops in London, I noticed how little space was devoted to pop, queer artists, and expressions of queer joy. This inspired the concept for Spin it Proud, a queer-owned, London-based independent online store celebrating pop and queerness. I wanted to create a curated collection featuring everyone from legendary icons to emerging artists, with a dedicated home for queer artists and our allies.

We’re moving away from the idea of "guilty pleasures" and embracing the feel-good music that forms the soundtrack of our lives.
